As M113 carriers become excess in the military
system a number of conversion options are being considered for asset utilization. As an example of its utility, BAE Systems has developed fire fighting options, like the model shown on the right.
At a minimum, the carriers would provide the following capabilities: 250 gpm compressed air foam systems providing 800 plus gallon water tank, vehicle protection spray, and
remotely actuated turret, air-conditioned/insulated/filtered cab, 20,000 lb. winch, remote back fire lighting system, light dozer blade, and drivers thermal or light intensifier sight aids. |
