M113A3MR The M113A3 Maintenance/Recovery (M113A3 M/R) vehicle is an armored tracked vehicle that carries a 20,000 lb winch and 3,000 lb crane. It is a member of the M113A3 Vehicle Family developed and produced by BAE Systems. Power is supplied by a 275hp Detroit Diesel 6V53T turbocharged diesel engine driving through an Allison X200-4B (cross-drive) transmission. The M113A3 M/R incorporates all of the mobility, reliability, and maintainability improvements of the M113A3, including powertrain, engine diagnostics, driver's station, and electrical system. Both the crane and winch are hydraulically actuated through a system which is powered by the vehicle power plant. The 20,000 lb winch has a minimum line speed of 20 ft/sec and is equipped with a levelwind device to maintain proper spooling of the recovery cable. The crane is also equipped with a hydraulic winch which contains a minimum of 50 feet of cable. Kits to convert M113 vehicles to the M113A3 M/R configuration are available.
